Halloween Sneaker Releases by Kody Naiker

Shoe companies, specifically Nike, have a longstanding history of releasing Halloween-themed shoes, going all the way back to 1998, when they released an Air Force 1 Jewel in a black and orange colorway. The shoe was named Halloween Black/ Safety Orange. Recently, Nike comes out with multiple Halloween colorways across multiple silhouettes on a yearly basis. Let’s take a look at some of those upcoming releases for this fall season and where to cop.

Nike SB Dunk Low, "Mummy"

A highly anticipated release of not only Halloween, but also of the year, the Mummy Dunk is decorated with “gauze,” mimicking the look of a real mummy. Some other notable features are the Eye of Horus under the tongues, spiderweb stitching, an embroidered spider on the toe box, a yellow-green sole, playful toilet paper graphic on the insole, and an embroidered/jeweled pair of eyes on the backtab. If that wasn’t spooky enough, Nike decided to make the back tab and sole glow in the dark.

Release Date: October 25th at select skate shops (in-person release).

Nike Air Force 1 Low, “Skeleton” (Court Purple)

Keeping with tradition, Nike is set to release another AF1 in a Halloween colorway. This shoe features a white sole, purple upper, and most notably, an x-ray foot printed on the side of the shoe. This is not the first time we have seen this x-ray idiom, Nike used it last year, but in an orange colorway.

Release Date: Expected to release in late October on Nike.com and select retailers for $130.

As a side note, the Halloween pairs do make their way into Nike retail stores and stores that have Nike accounts, such as Shoe Palace.

Nike Air Force 1 Low, “Halloween”

One of the most beloved and classic silhouettes at Nike gets yet another Halloween-themed colorway. This one features a black leather upper with glow in the dark eye imagery, a white midsole, and an orange outsole.

Nike Air Presto, “Halloween”

The next Halloween shoe in this year’s lineup is on a silhouette that has not seen much love in recent years, the Air Presto. This version of the shoe entails contrast orange stitching, an embroidered orange spider on the toe box, orange outsole, black/white midsole, and a glow in the dark back tab that has the same eye imagery as the AF1 previously discussed.

Release Date:  October 21st at 7:00 am on Nike.com and Snkrs app for $150.

Nike Dunk Low, “Halloween”

As the name suggests, this year’s Dunk Low features similar imagery and colors as the previously mentioned AF1 and Air Presto. The upper consists of black and white paneling, the black parts are decorated with the glow in the dark eye motif that is central to the 2021 Halloween pack. The midsole is white, while the outsole is semi-translucent and also glows in the dark. As an accent color, orange is used on the liner, tongue and swoosh.

Release Date: October 30th on Nike.com and Select Retailers for $120.

Adidas Superstar, “Halloween”

An exceptionally classic silhouette, the Adidas Superstar, gets a facelift for this fall season. Featuring a black corduroy upper with leather stripes, orange adidas logo on the backtab, orange pumpkin dubraes, and a fuzzy green liner. Not much information about this shoe is available yet, but it seems that the sole and shell-toe will glow in the dark.

Adidas ZX 8000, Halloween

The next shoe in this year’s lineup of releases is on a ZX 8000, a shoe that has been getting traction recently, thanks to a collaborative rendition done by Sean Wotherspoon and Bad Bunny. The Halloween version features nappy suede along the toe box and around the shoelaces, with purple stripes. The midsole and outsole is a combination of yellow and white. The most shocking element of this ZX 8000 is the chenille patches of ghosts that prominently runs throughout the entire profile of the sneaker.

A Bathing Ape, Bape Sta & Sk8 Sta Hi
